Best DIET for a SMALL DOG!
Hi, I'm Alan from Newlands Pets.
I wanted to talk to you about something that comes up seven or eight times a week. It's to do with small dogs being fussy.
I'm not saying small dogs are never fussy and I'm not saying fussy dogs don't exist, but I think they're not as common as people think.
I do feel for, if you have a small dog, let's say Chihuahua or something, a really small dog, they can be much harder to feed to get the portion control right? And I think that's what's causing the issue for so many people.
If you can imagine, you've got a big, great dane, the percentage of leeway you've got for getting the amount of food right is much larger. When you've got small Chihuahua, you're feeding a small amount to get it right. So, it's gonna be harder.
So, before you think about changing your food, unless there's a good reason to change your food, have a look at the portion of food that you're putting down. The feeding guideline may not be right. It's not tailored to your dog. It's for a generic dog.
Some dogs are more energetic, some dogs have high metabolism, some dogs need more food and some dogs need less - bear that in mind.
